Yes others have this problem. It is called Ophidiophobia. Your choices are to live with it, try to get through it on your own (mild cases), or seek professional help. I also recommend that your insensitive friends seek help as well. Phobias are not a laughing matter and anyone who thinks aggravating one is funny is not much of a friend.
I have a few links below to show you the type of help available. I am not recommending any of them in particular.

You can either let this fear overwhelm you for the rest of your life or you can start whittling away at it by learning more about snakes and gradually getting yourself acquainted to them. I am not saying go out and buy a huge one but more go to a Zoo or exhibit that has tiny snakes and get used to them that way.
If you go to see someone about this you will be spending a lot of money and talking before you ever start working on the problem. Also, because you do not truly like snakes when people start talking about them stop them cold and say do not talk about them around you. Don't let them keep gabbing on about it. Your friends should respect you in this area too. If they do not, do just as you have been--ignore them and don't talk to them until they get that you are quite serious about the situation. Turn the tables on them too. Tell them they should be better friends and help you through this instead of trying to scare you more.
I hope you can beat this thing. I too don't like snakes but I do try to pet them when they are in the hands of an experienced handler at a store or zoo. I do not go after them if they are outside. Both you and I know better than to mess with wild ones! Take care!

I have a ball python, and I'm pretty well used to the horrified comments I get from almost everyone... more often than not, they're along the lines of "Ew... how can you let that thing stay in your house?"
Basically, what I tell everyone is... "No, he doesn't have legs or fur, but he still deserve to be loved and respected. God made him the way he is... there's nothing he can do about it except be the nicest snake he can be."
It really gets some people thinking... lots of people have wanted me to get him out after that. Some people, though, will never like snakes... there's nothing I can do about it.

My mother used to be scared of worms, but then she began gardening and learned to appreciate how they helped the plants and soil.
Maybe you could start with learning how rarely people are hurt by snakes (I think people are hurt less by snakes than by donkeys ;) Lol)
and then learn how they help the environment. Life is a chain of events, and each species depends on another, so snakes do help humans live better somehow. (You know, the "circle of life").
Then, try to get yourself to hold a small, harmless snake (they're kind of cute, really!), and work up the bigger ones. Unless you provoke snakes, they won't hurt you!

Everyone has a fear of something, to different degrees. If it really bothers you to the point that you can't function properly then it is serious and you should consider getting help. If you really want to get away (and need a good excuse) there are no snakes in Hawaii!

nope i love snakes all snakes and reptiles but it's embedded in your mind from some where in your past that snakes are out to get you and that they are killers... really they are not... they are kind cool creatures that were put on earth for a purpose which is to help control the enviornment they are not out to get you they are out to live yes some snakes are poisonous and people say they are dangerous not at all thats thier only weapon to kill a prey (mouse, small food) and to protect themselves so if it feels threatened (by grabbin it or kickin it) then it will strike to protect itself so it can live other wise they are harmless! even big snakes like the anaconda (go here to see what i'm talkin bout http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/2413/anacbarbwire1cv.jpg) which yea look huge are harmless they constrict to kill thier prey but i deal with them alot and i haven't had one constrict on me! what i'm tryin to say is encounter a few snakes in a zoo or something and keep it in your mind that hey he's just livin like i am. he wants to eat, sleep drink and stay alive just like me things ole be fine. I Hope this helps you alot!

Honestly talking, there's no everlasting approach to zits for a few of us. A lot of elements play a colossal function within the progress of zits. a million. Do you put on your hair up or down? Some persons dont discover that the filth of their hair is also the rationale of zits two. Do you put on make up? STOP for two weeks and upload one beauty product per week to look which of them exacerbate the zits. three. Use benzoyl peroxide to identify deal with the zits. four. Wear sunblock even if your interior. as for the spots, uncover licorice lotions or hydroquinone lotions for the marks, use contractubex

That is up to you. If you want to get over your fear you have to do it yourself. Snakes arent mean and arent going to attak you. I would do some research on them and learn as much about them as you can. People are usually afraid of what they dont understand. Maybe if you can understand and learn about them it might help. Good luck
