I'm a college student and I just need it for christmas break. I can't go home for the winter break and I just need someplace to stay for until school starts back.
I can't go home cuz my mom is a drug dealer and my aunt supports her, my home isnt a positive enviroment. Other family members always express how much of an inconvience it'll be to have people stay over so I dont wanna ask them.
I just need some ideas on where to look for temporary housing for 1 or 2 month?

Look for a sublease. Many people in college towns rent their places during breaks. Also, check places like craigslist.com for subleases. I subleased two places last summer, and it worked out great! Most people looking to sublet their place will not even require a deposit or a contract.

Got any good trustworthy friends that would split cost on a extended stay hotel?

Look for a roommate in the same predicament I'm sure if you are in this situation then you aren't the only one searching for a temp place.

Look for room and board housekeeping jobs.

Camping eh? Its going to be December and cold!

To rent an apartment is going to be a huge expense with turning on utilities, deposits and all.

Talk to the college dorm administrators and see if they'll let you stay in a dorm room cheep --it happens.

If you rent a conventional apartment for a month, the landlord is going to rip you off and keep the "deposit," which is a very expensive loss of cash in this situation over a short period.

Have you considered going camping in the Southwest over the break? There are a few FREE campgrounds.

Try craigslist.org and see if you can sublet a place or a room in someone's place over the break. Most landlords won't be eager to go through the trouble of checking your credit and formally signing a lease with you for just a month or two, but sublets shouldn't be a problem if you're flexible. Good luck!

Hi nesia9,

Try the student bulletine(spell checker) board-for room mates for a couple months, or house site for someone, how about any friends from school that live close by that wouldn't mind you coming home with them, a room and board place where you could work & stay at the same time, depending where school is come stay with me & use the car cause I work from home.

buy a tent and set it up at your local KOA campground. each site has electricity and sometimes cable tv hookups. not to mention nice showers just a short walk away! sometimes sites are as low as $5 per day!
