Half walnut shell, with pine nuts for feet and head. This can look *very* elegant if done with care. It'd be cute in a terrarium, depending on the glue you used.

Are you asking for a craft idea where you can make collector quality turtles? If so, try polymer clay.
Check out Christi Friesen at http://cforiginals.com and you will see how amazing polymer clay is. She actually has a new book coming out mid-November that shows you how to create sea turtles out of polymer. You can advance order the book.

I LOVE polymer clay. I do a lot of artisan jewelry and my favorite medium is clay to create the focal pieces and beads.
Have fun.

i made a crocheted pillow for my daughter when she was a year old, it was a big green turtle with a yellow tummy, she still has it, and shes 34, we made lots of turtles, soap mold turtles, ceramic, glued together rocks, carved wood, polymer clay sculptures, and so on, when she was in high school whenever we saw a turtle crossing the road we had to stop and move him to the side of the road, she and a friend started their own organization for the prevention of flat turtles, and all you had to do to join was move a turtle off the road, and she got a story in the state outdoor magazine about it. shes still moving turtles in rural Indiana but in las vegas i see no more turtles.
