Anyone know what disease this is or what the cure may be ?

Sounds like a disease called Tar Spot. It isn't anything to worry about because the leaves will fall off the tree before it can harm the plant. It is a good idea to dispose of the leaves in a landfill so the disease producing spore structures on the leaves can't make spores and contaminate the tree again next year.

That same thing happened in my area a few years back don't worry about it it will go away on it's own.Sorry I forgot what caused it.

It got AIDS which has no cure. Stay away from it sttupid.
