Potatoes guns are not dangerous people are dangerous. I shot a potato through 1/4 inch plywood so I can imagine what it would do to an eye, or rib-cage. If you are thinking about buying one I would evaluate your abilities prior.

yes potato cannons are fairly safe, for a pneumatic potato canon has a very low chance of blowing up and combustion cannon are not likely to blow up but sometimes screw caps fly off just don't use a real explosives like gunpowder, hybrids are dangerous and only for pros, other then that you should never look down the barrel which is the leading cause for serious potato cannon injury and finally never shoot people it you properly construct your potato cannon then you are the one that determines the safety

Use a report to sharpen the top of the barrel. by way of this, I propose make the plastic ring sharp so as that as quickly as you place a potato in it (assuming the potato is wider than the barrel) the greater effective potato would be shaved away, and it will greater healthful snugly interior the barrel. percentis no longer a susceptible cloth, so don't be to frightened in that regard. the only way it is going to shatter is that if the potato can't go out the barrel. something has to supply, which may be the %. yet once you do the above, you would be super.

It depends on whether you are on the receiving end or the firing end. Any projectile launched at speed can hurt, therefore if misused or abused no a potatoe gun is not safe. This is true of any weapon.

Are potato guns safe*
And no, anything that is flammable/combustable in a pressurised container can be called a bomb, but if used correctly it should be fine.

Depending on the gun, it can launch a payload with enough force to travel over 100 yards, so you should make sure no one is downrange.
