I have a Playstation 2 but I have had an Xbox as well. I have seen negatives and positives for both but overall, I would vote for PS2. The only positive that I have found on Xbox (Mind you, I know nothing about the 360 or PS3.) is the fact that you can add music on the hard drive. For me, this was just pure awesomeness because since I am a wrestling fan, I would find CDs of old wrestling theme songs and upload them so I could use them on CAWs (Create-A-Wrestlers). I also find more video games that I like only on PS2 and not Xbox. So ultimately, I say PS2.

Have a good day!

PS3 comes out soon.

Video console kingpin Sony has revealed new details about its highly anticipated PlayStation 3, formally announcing the roster of games that will be available just in time for the upcoming holiday season.

The consumer electronics giant said that at least 21 games will be available when it launches the new platform on November 17, allaying some gamers' fears that many of the titles weren't going to be ready for the console's debut.

"Our lineup of PlayStation 3 games that will be available through the holidays is unprecedented in terms of volume," said Kaz Hirai, president and chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America.

Sony executives made the scheduled announcement this week at a media event in San Francisco, where they also indicted that the bulk of PlayStation 3's titles will sell for $60 or less. Among the hotly anticipated games for the new console are franchise staples, such as "Madden NFL '07," "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion," and "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas."

Sony boss Hirai said that, in terms of variety and innovation, the lineup "surpasses any previous competitive launch catalog and even our own original offerings for other PlayStation platforms."

Sony is also releasing a new title that has bloggers buzzing with speculation. "Resistance: Fall of Man" is a new game the company calls "visually arresting." Reportedly, its eye-popping graphics will require the large storage capacity offered by the Blu-ray drive that will ship as a standard part of the PlayStation 3.

Gaming Is Big Biz

"These games are a big business," said Michael Goodman, program manager of visual entertainment at the Yankee Group. "And any time you can grab an advantage, either through technology or being first to market, it is going to mean a lot of money."

Sony had originally provided journalists with a first glimpse of the PlayStation 3 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles back in May, but didn't reveal news of any new games -- or any real details about the PlayStation 3's companion online service -- until this week.

Although Sony still ranks as the current gaming king -- it has 60 percent of the gaming market -- the company has traveled a rocky road over the past year, according to Goodman. Sony is launching the PlayStation 3 a full year behind Microsoft's Xbox 360, which already has sold more than five million units, Goodman said.

"Microsoft has been in the market one year, and it is already seeing the second and third generation of software for its games," he said. "From the consumer standpoint, the Xbox 360 is going to look better than the PlayStation 3."

The third-place console maker, Nintendo, is launching its own next-generation platform, called the Wii, on November 19. Analysts expect that console, which will cost significantly less than the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, will be a hot seller.

Holiday Shortage?

Sony said there will be 400,000 PlayStation 3 consoles available to North American customers at the time it debuts -- and about one million available by the end of the year. However, reports indicate Sony won't be able to satisfy consumer demand during the holidays.

Sony initially had hoped to launch the PlayStation 3 last spring, and was later forced to cut the number of units it would make available this holiday season because of technical issues manufacturing key components for the Blu-ray drive, according to Goodman. Shortages could have an impact on Sony's market share as gamers look to the Wii or to the Xbox 360.

Another issue that has analyst wondering how popular the PlayStation 3 will be is cost. The consoles will be priced in the $500 to $600 range, more than $100 above Microsoft's Xbox 360.

However, not all things associated with the PlayStation 3 will be expensive. Sony has said that its online and network service for the PlayStation 3 will be available for free. The Xbox Live online service costs $50 for annual subscription fee.

The PlayStation Network will offer game-related content, downloadable games, and demos. Players will also be able to establish an online profile and purchase content from the PlayStation store, including classic games for $15 each.

But i must admit i like the lime green of XBOX :)

It's choice really. BTW To the guy who said PC games are better. That hasn't been true for 3 years. In fact most gaming companies are porting games over from Consoles now instead of the other way around.

Lucas Arts isn't releasing any games for the P.C. next year. They will probably do ports later on but all initial releases are for the consoles.

Finally. Sony is having to slash prices on it's PS3 in Japan. For what reason I do not know, I have to assume it is because of the Wii from Nintendo being released at the same time and the fact that it's more than 2 times cheaper.
