Your question is flawed. If a person is working 2 or 3 jobs, then they are not in the middle class. They are at the lower end of the scale. And, there are no taxes on those at the lower end of the scale.
For your information, in order to educate you: The top 50% of income earners pay over 96% of the income taxes. That top 50% barely touches the middle class. The top 1% of income earners pay nearly 35% of all income taxes. Now. Tell me what is fair. You not paying taxes or someone else paying more than their fair share?
Your last question asks if the US is better off with an uneducated and uninsured middle class. If the middle class is uneducated then how are they in the middle class. They would be too stupid to be holding those higher paying jobs. Uneducated people barely top $20,000 per year. And, thanks to a welfare state, every child, whether legal or not, gets an education paid for by property owners and tax payers.
And, where is it in the Constitution, the US' Constitution, that says that the government must provide universal health care and payroll? There are many people out there that refuse to get insurance not wanting to pay the monthly fees if they don't want to. Oh, and how does having a government supplied health card ensure a position in the middle class?
I don't know about you, but I want a position in the upper class. I look forward to improving myself through education and training so that I can learn and do more so that I can continue to move up that corporate ladder. I don't look for government handouts or blame the government for my failures.

What is causing people to hold down 2 or 3 jobs is NOT the government. And I personally don't believe that the right wing is holding anybody down. This is simply the party line of the extreme left. If you go out and buy too much house and too many unnecessary things, on credit, at 20% interest, and then have to buy a new car every 3 years to keep up with your neighbors, that is your own ignorance and has nothing to do with the government. The conservatives in this country were kind enough to hand out tax cuts to EVERYONE! Now, do they hand out extras to the super rich, yep. That's called the luck of the draw. But still, the top 5% of the financial population still pay 90% of the taxes in this country. Now, the left are big fans of jacking up taxes to pay for useless social programs and redundant offices and policies, which is a burden on the middle class. They also ushered in NAFTA, essentially DESTROYING the manufacturing industry in this country. Which again, you guessed it, hurt the middle class. So please, stop whining that the government is hurting you. If you choose, and you do choose, to live a certain way and it is above and beyond your means, that's your own damn fault.

I live in a City that is very liberal. And it seems as though if they are trying to do away with small businesses. Before its said and done, everyone will be flippin burgers. I don't hold that against the democratic party altogether, but the ones who are running this city are getting rediculous! They have banned smoking in buildings, even bars and taverns! They make elderly people go outside in extreme conditions and shovel sidewalks that the city claims to own! If that sidewalk belongs to the city, the city should take care of it! not the citizens, just because you want to save a little more money. I have nothing against the Democratic party as a whole, but someone needs to give these guys down here a new insight on how to run a city. The smoking ban is unconstitutional just as the seat belt law is. These laws are in place strictly to make money, thats it! I mean, do you expect me to believe they are worried about my health or safety? No Way! There are at least 3 factories here that have moved to Mexico! That is very sad! Alot of people are making chump change at Wal-Mart or 7Eleven. I'm sure there are better people in the Democratic Party than what we have here!

Nice theory. Now all you need is the facts that support your argument, not B.S. propoganda, but facts.
I worked my way up and I assume others will have to do the same. A certain degree of financial success does not come without a price. Some may never achieve it, but that is also a fact of life that people must live with. In the U.S., class envy has no place in the voting booth.

Hey, the right is the ones who think we know how to handle our money and want to give tax breaks. The right wants less government and the right is the ones who are basically conservative, meaning, Government should spend only what they take in, Americans know what to do with their money, let them spend it or save it.
Its the far left that wants to take your rights and do away with middle class. They always talk about taxing the rich, well, some of them are pretty well off with the money they steal, I MEAN, get from their jobs in Washington

I don't know but Bush is working on that they won't be able to vote, soon. You will have to meet the income standards in order to vote. The few are leading the many and that is just wrong. They work for us. We should be ask if they deserve a pay raise, This last congress should give back all of the money every last cent.

Middle-class is the new buzzword for the Corporate/Economic Transnational Slavery that is being pursued by a handful of rich, dominant men.
You won't hear about it, because the major media was bought a while ago and are making more money by covering for treachery of their fellow man. The WTO is a big player is making sure the middle class is eradicated.
