Even in days gone by, the Chevy and GMC trucks were virtually identicle. From 1973 until a year or two ago, the two pickups were exactly the same. Before '73, they had different front ends (GMC had dual headlights where the Chevy had sealed beam) and the tailgate styling was different. In the last couple of years, General Motors has tried to make some cosmetic differences in the two trucks. Drivetrains are still the same though. GMC has offered one option that you couldn't get on a Chevy from the factory and that was the four wheel steering. GMC has never been nicer in the cab than the Chevorlet, interior options have always been the same.

Same truck, made by the same people. Their used to be some differences, engines and such, and the older GMC was more of a commercial vehicle with Plain Jane looks. The Trim package is about all that is different now.

There is no REAL difference today. There WAS a time when the GMC was a beefier, stronger sprung, just heavier duty truck.
