How do you escalade up to dating from being friends? I have this girl on my mind and I asked her to dance with me once and she said she just wanted to be friends. She is kinda shy, so how do I break the ice.

Take time. We girls can be that way. Maybe she likes you but is nervous about it. She might not want the friendship to end so she doesn't want to take that risk. Just talk to her about it.
