Is the beginning of summer, so it's pretty hot and very, very humid.. this summer is suppose to be hotter than usual because of the Niño. Though, you could need a light long sleeve for the evening.
About hotels....what's your budget? your interests (to find the best locations for your activities)? Are you planning on visiting only Lima?

SUMMER!!!!
I will suggest you stay in San Isidro or Miraflores hotels
In miraflores you have : Marriot, Miraflores park plaza
San Isidro: Country Club hotel, El olivar
You can do a little research online too..i dont remember the other hotels name, but those are the best ones here in Lima

it is hot is the beginning of the Summer season every year the day after Christmas people rush to the endless beaches to refresh and eat sea food.
