Has anyone recently purchased a new Whirlpool or Maytag gas dryer? Which do you prefer/what do you like about the one you chose?
Ones I have seen have more bells/whistles than I think I will ever use! Recommendations, please? Thanks!
But I did read in consumer reports a dryer sensor is an important feature.

I bought a new Whirlpool extra large tub. I love the new wrinkle guard and the cool down..and also if your clothes did not make it out of the dryer in time you can set it back to get the wrinkles out!! I really like this last phrase...

Hi,
Defiantly get one with a dry sensor, it keeps you from over drying you clothes.
I've owned both brands through the years, haven't encountered any really un-expected flaws, that appeared from normal wear & tear.
But I'd like to suggest looking at other brands also, for features, cost, sizes, and warranties.
Most people don't realize that every so many years, that all your name brand companies "contract" to the few actual manufacturers for their product.
As an example, Kenmore, a Sears product could actually be made by Whirlpool, for a few years.
Then, it could be actually made by Fridgiaire.
Then, it can be that just certain models offered in a product line, like Sears- Kenmore, could still be made by someone else.
Some name brand "Label", can also change even during production after a pre-set amount on the production line of one manufacturer.
200 Kenmore, after that the companiy will put on a "Whirlpool" label, 300 later, a Maytag.
Just depends on who is the actual producer, and what contracts they have.
Check out the satisfaction of people who have bought certain products/model #'s, go with what you own needs and ablity allows.
Hope this helps, and good luck,
Dave

We built a house, and bought all Maytag appliances for the house. I would never do it again, because we have received horrible customer service! We have replaced the top of the stove multiple times. It was supposed to be covered under the warranty, but the charged us a service charge to come to the house. I could not get my questions answered about our refridgerator and the dishwasher backs up into the sink, because that is the way it was vented! Buy the Whirlpool!

cheaper to just replace the dryer. ropers cost 180 new. do you really need all this frustration? get rid of it before it causes an electrical fire. the reason everyone has such a hard time finding manuals is because copyright laws. you cant post a manual or you copy. plus they come with a dryer os car or washer but do any ever tell you how to dismantal and repair no. its not a chiltons for autos and try to find a chiltons manual for any car online. it wont happen. there is no manual to fix a dryer. thats hush hush stuff that keeps the repair boys in a job. sorry

Sit on top of each one, see how much vibration you get from it, if you get alot then you know its a good choice. You know take it for a spin, and see how good the mileage is on it!
