just curious...how did they become an empire?

They fought wars all over the globe, and create nations of slaves.
They eventually fell apart due to internal conflict.
Sounds like the USA is following the same fatal path.

They built the largest, most well equipped and trained military in the world and set out conquering one land at a time. SPQR became the largest empire in western history.
