Israel's Chronic Water Problem

10 Aug 2002

The causes of the crisis are both natural and man-made. Israel has suffered from four consecutive years of drought. The increase in demand for water for domestic uses, caused by population growth and the rising standard of living, together with the need to supply water pursuant to international undertakings have led to over-utilization of its renewable water sources.

The agricultural sector has suffered most because of the crisis. Due to the shortage, water allocations to the sector had to be reduced drastically causing a reduction in the agricultural productivity.

the situation has developed into a crisis so severe that it is feared that by the next summer it may be difficult to adequately supply municipal and household water requirements. The current cumulative deficit in Israel's renewable water resources amounts to approximately 2 billion cubic meters, an amount equal to the annual consumption of the State.

If Israel became uninhabitable, it would be great to welcome them here in the USA. They are a motivated, strong, spiritual, philanthropic people. We shouldn't create a new country within our borders, but we could help them settle North Dakota or South Dakota (I'm not sure what those states are all that good for anyway). The Israeli people are used to hardship so they could probably make the Dakotas a thriving new Jerusalem. Once they are out of the Middle East and it no longer provides our oil, we could just nuke that whole mess and be done with them.

I thought I heard somewhere that Isreal is one of the leading countries in developing desalination techniques to purify drinking water from the ocean!

Even if that's not true, I don't think the Isrealies would want to relocate their country anywhere else! They are where they believe God intended for them to live! If hostile neighbors strapped with bomb vests or shooting rockets into their cities aren't going to influence them to move, a lack of drinking water certainly won't do it either!

A better idea would me to build a machine to gobble up muslims and ring all the water out of them before grinding them up into feed for pigs!

There are two methods they have or should employ to relieve the situation.. reclaimed water for irrigation as well as desalination plants (already in existence).

Why not? All of Israel would fit into a corner of Utah.

The Israelis would be welcome to apply for citizenship here but not to start a new country within U.S. borders.

Potable water is quickly becoming a worldwide problem.
