We had trouble getting pregnant with our first baby. I didn't think I was pregnant but I complained to a friend that I was cramping but hadn't started my period. She had an extra pregnancy test so she sent me home with it. I didn't tell my husband I was doing the test because I didn't want him to be disappointed when it came up negative. SO...when it came up positive I was so surprised I walked out and showed it to him with no explanation. His response was "what is this"? Then I had to call my friend to have her look at the directions on the box at her house to make sure we were reading it right! Eventually we got over being shocked and were ecstatic.
To tell my parents, we bought the Li'l Critter Books "Just Grandma and Me" and "Just Grandpa and Me" and handed them to my parents with a note that said "to be used around April of 2004". It took them a minute but they finally figured it out.

Well, my husband knew I was taking the test so we both found out at the same time. For our parents: we had just moved into our first home a few months earlier and our parents had helped us paint and move and do a few repairs. We went to the store and bought some baby bibs and put them in a plain gift bag. We went to each house and told them that we got them a little thank you gift for helping us move in. They were all so excited... speachless but excited! All of them still have their bibs too!
My son was born 2 weeks before Fathers day and my hubby's father put a pic of him and our son in the paper, under the pic it said 'Happy First Father's Day!'

I am four and a half months right now. When I wanted to tell my sister's kids about the baby I spoke with my sister and she called them all into her kitchen. She has two boys (11 and 9) and two girls (6 and 8 months). She said to the boys "Alex and Kyle will you help your auntie bring the baby cradle to her car?" They both moved to go and get it, but stopped. Kyle turned to me and said "why do you need a cradle?" and Alex said "Yeah, why do you need the cradle?" I just looked at them and raised my eyebrows. Kyle then said very softly "you're having a baby?!" They were so excited that they started jumping around the room.

With my first, my mother-n-law and I went out to lunch. While paying the clerk asked eating for 2? Mother-n-law and i both looked at eachother confused and i blurted "I dont think so". On the way home she stopped and got a test. I took it, it was +, she was on the phone so fast with her son chewing him a new one yelling at him that his sister and him have to do everything togehter, she was not old enought to be a grandma, ect. I later found out that same day her daughter called that morning and told her that she was PG.

When I got pregnant for the second time, I found out when my husband was at work. I went to see him on his lunch break and I made a shirt for my son that said, "I'm going to be a big brother!!!" My husband really liked that.

For my dad's birthday, I gave him a "Happy Birthday Grandpa" card (it's their first grandchild).
I called up my brother (who's away at school) and asked for "Uncle So-and-So" repeatedly until he figured it out.

I went to my husband's work study (we were in college) with a gift. When he opened it in front of his colleagues, it was a pair of baby shoes. He was so flustered, he said "congratulations" to me and SHOOK MY HAND!!
