No, Steve is not gay. He was in a 6 year relationship with Sherrie for whom the song was written for. They broke up. He has had other female relationships over the years. But has never been married to any of them. During a Q&A, which can be found on Fan Asylum web site for Steve Perry, the month of Nov 2005, the question was asked if he was married/in a relationship and he said he was single and happily so. That he love his life.

Someone once asked this question to Fan Asylum--Journey's old fan club who continues to operate fan clubs for a number of different artists to this day. Their official answer: NO! Steve has never been married. He was very much in love with Sherrie Swafford--who the "Oh Sherrie" song was written about and video starred. Even after their breakup in 1985, she continues to hold the rights and royalties to that song. Steve gave it to her. It would be a few years before Steve fell in love again. And he did have a girlfriend by the name of Robin for about 10 years. She went on the FTLSM tour with him, and was introduced to several fans. Also on that tour was a young lady by the name of Shamira--who some say in certain circles--is Steve's grown daughter from his college sweetheart. However--that is something Steve has never publically awknowledged. He once said that if everyone knew about his privae life he wouldn't have a private life!! I totally agree with him. But anyway in answer to your question--No Steve isn't gay. Some say though that he never married because Sherrie was the love of his life.

Dennis, It would not change the fact that I love his music and that he is a very talented artist, I have no problem with gays My best friend is gay and he is a fantastic guy, so dont take things so personally,It was a question period

Steve Perry is not gay he has been happily married to a female for years. Not to say that he is in not in the closet. But has never come out. I think he is straight as can be

do you mean gay as in sexual preference OR do you mean gay as in he is lame?
he isn't sexually gay as far as I have ever heard.
I can see where some people could think he is lame.
I personally like his singing and I think he is a nice person.
