Why is Clark Kent Vulnerable in the Phantom Zone?

i was watvhing the season premiere and when he was in the phantom zone, he was attacked and he was bleeding and etc.
but on earth, nothing could wound him accept for the kryptonite.
why is that?

he is vulnerable because his power comes from the yelow sun of our galaxy this doesn't reach him in the phantom zone (i.e) He would be like any normal person on krypton because they have a red sun

When he was in the Phantom Zone he had lost his powers and that made him vulnerable
