It is a very difficult comparison to make. They are in my opinion two very different type of players carrying out non-comparable roles. One similarity they do share though, is that each player is still capable of improving their game. Both are unquestionably invaluable to their respective clubs, and both are undoubtedly top class players. I suppose the only half rational way to attempt such a judgement would be to base it on recognised achievements on an individual level. Not what England or Brazil have won. Forget what Liverpool or Barcelona have done. What has Gerrard and Ronaldinho achieved? I would imagine as a player there is no greater acknowledgement or honour than to be recognised as the best player in the world, and as Ronaldinho has been named so, officially (remember you are still entitled to disagree) Ronaldinho would have to be said to be a better player all round.

By far Ronaldinho is better attacking wise. He brings so much flair into football. He makes defenders look like fools. If you look at players that help out the defence Stevie G is the better player.

The best all rounder would be stevie g. ronaldinho is a class act for sure when he decides to turn it on but stevie just has that box to box energy and is a willing workhorse for the team. if you asked ronaldinho to go box to box for 90 minutes he'd look at you as if you where mad

Steven Gerrard, but is a little unfair because they play in totally different positions. You wouldn't see Ronaldinho filling in at right back or in a holding role in midfield when you have injuries!! lol
If I'm honest I feel they both suffer from lack of concentration and composure at times when you feel they should bury it in the back of the net, or play the simple pass... that's the thing that separates the Great players from the truly world class players in my opinion.
I think if he's honest Gerrard himself would probably agree with me there...

If both players played the best they could against each other, Ronaldinho would win. Both players are hard working but I think Gerrard is more consistent and more valuable to his team. But when Ronaldinho comes to play, he can't be touched.

Ronaldinho is a more skillful player, but Gerrard is a better all-round player. The only place he hasn't played is in goal and i think left back, and he played well in all positions.
