First, let me say I think youve made a good observation. You covered the Physics part fairly well. Now, youve covered much of the "what" of the physical universe. - composition and operating function and all that. But your asking the PURPOSE of the universe - that falls outside the sphere of "what" and "how" - your asking "why". - and thats fair enough. heres an analogy: lets use a car. Thousands of remarks and observations can be made about how a car functions - all its parts etc. - but the purpose is to TRANSPORT (people and items etc). - the purpose of the universe would likewise not necessarily be found within the scope of what it is and how it happens to function. at least that much we can agree on, right? This point should also illustrate that looking for purposes, reasons and meanings of the universe strictly within the realm of Physics and hard sciences will not necessarily bear fruit. See, that? Ok... I'll give you the best I can and can only hope that it actually changes something for you: The universe is, in essence, a playground. It was created in order to have a game. Its purpose is TO PROVIDE AN ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH TO HAVE A GAME. Im trying to not get too into details - since that would take too long. - Lets not get into arguing over who created it - lets just say the thing was created. How it works is inconsequential to the fact that it has a purpose (or at least that was its original purpose, now it serves as a place of entrapment) Yep, somewhere along the line we all agree to play this game and ....well, its gotten outta hand and now everyone has forgotten and is confused. Fun, aint' it? I'd love to talk more but, ahhhh,.... I can offer stuff if you want - it doesnt align with Christian views, though.... so .... whatever. Nice thinking though. Try to keep sharp - else you go to sleep like the rest of the zombies.

There is probably a "purpose" for all of mankind together too accomplish, but my personnel "purpose" as of now in this age and time, is too get through school, with a good education, and a fairly good job that can allow me too live well and do things i want to do, while still enjoying my child hood. I focus on studying and completing assignments and still have fun, but try to focus on the next half of my life. Many of my family members always say they wish they could go back and do school over..anyway off topic. Can scientists provide insight into genius, love and cooperation? I'm sorry, I am not a scientist. I hope i helped somewhat.

Nope. None whatsoever. Purpose is a construct of the human mind, not something that is inherent in the universe. It makes people feel good about themselves and their existence to think that there is some far-out cosmic purpose. Just because they want it to be, though, doesn't mean that it is. If you are looking for purpose, go look in a mirror. There you will find the source of all the purpose that you have.

An age old question indeed!! Would you belief that the universe is within each of us and that science can only provide theories on this subject matter. When the time is appropriate this purpose will be revealed in one form or another to each individual.

I'm only gonna answer the first Q.

Aside from the fact that at night especially, it provides an awesome view, it also provides us with thought provoking questions, scenarios, possibilities, hopes, dreams, goals, and more questions.

It affords us the thought that there might be other places to go, apart from this globe, and considerations that in its vastness, we might NOT be ALONE,,,even if we sometimes selfishly think we are.

Its apparent infinite space defies logic, and asks us to call out to it, listening for echos.

On a spiritual level,,, not counting religion,,, it affords us all manner of conditions, and conundrums.

My dear Aldara reminds me on occasion that the Universe does take care of the "details" and I believe that.

To sum up... Is there a purpose??? Other than those I mentioned,,, I'll have to get back to ya, when I've evolved more.

Is there? Good question. I have often wondered if someday we will wake up and realize that there is no purpose, life just is, and we are just part of life continuing. Maybe that in itself is just the purpose. I am agnostic, so often I have my doubts if I am on the right path. Maybe there is a God with a bigger plan......or maybe the plan is just that our purpose is to mean something to someone else. Your children, or your spouse....who knows? Maybe the miracle lies within the small things that we do every day. You drive safe and therefore no one died at your hands. Is our purpose any greater than that?

Love, co-operation etc are beyond logic, more of intuition...
Logical sciences cannot prove, or provide reasoning , because out of love, person does things which look illogical , but is beyond logic.
About universe too, we can logically and scientifically proceed upto a certain point, and thereafter it is just speculation, leading to inconclusive debates.

There is a purpose. You should not live for your needs and wants, which would be the logical and rational thing to do, because you will feel unsatisfied and that you are missing the purpose. You have to live for your soul, live for God. That is the simple and irrational answer.

The only purpose that matters is the purpose you believe in. Nothing else matters in our technologically advanced, morally corrupt, and disallusioned world society.
