most likely it has a 200 metric trans. you can swap most rearends from the same body style, i think its a g body but dont remember. find a rear end and trans out of a GNX or Grand National or T type Buick. They all had turbos and the rear ends are tough.

the cutlass can have 4 diffrent trans.IF it is a 3 spd automatic ,it can be a th200/250 ( it is one piece case from the seal for the drive shaft to where it bolts on to the motor called a metric trans) or the other 3 spd trans is a th350 th. stand for turbohydromatic. the 350 has a two piece case ,the tail housing bolts on with 4 bolts, the pan looks like a square with one corner cut off. IF the cutlass has an OD trans.they used a th200r4 trans also a one piece case from front to rear.Your other choice would be an TH700r4 it also has a bolt on tail housing like the th350 but in a4spd model(diffrent shape pan than 350 has) check wwwautozone they might have pic of pan gaskets each of the 4 have diffrent shape and numb. of bolts on pan. As for the rear end swap 78 to 87 cutlass, regal, malibu, monte carlo, grand prix, will interchange although some brake hardware might be diff. as an assy it will swap.look for a SS monte, cutlass 442 or regal grand sport as they mostly had a posi rear end
