I was wondering if there are certain periods in the year when employers are hiring more than others. I kind of feel that it slows down towards the end of the year. What do you think or know?

Definately seasonal. It has to do with budgets, money available,
year end meetings about business needs, etc. You must get tuned in to this movement, find out end of financial year, peak season for a given business, etc.

It depends on the job that you are looking for, the region of the country, etc. If you are just graduating from college, most new hires are in the late spring around spring commencement or start in January after the holidays.
The end of the year, beginning of the year is the best time to be looking for job openings since a lot of people retire in the November through February time frame.

It depends on the job you're looking for. I know for teachers it's during the summer, or during December, January. Just check Careerbuilder.com or monster.com and you can sign up for updates for when jobs become available.
