Hi Kaydee, my husband is currently in Iraq. This is his second deployment, but it's not any easier than the first. The way you are feeling right now is completely normal. You have to allow yourself a little time to adjust. You need to make yourself go on with your everyday duties (ie go to work, grocery shopping, cleaning, etc). It will be extremely difficult just to get out of bed in the mornings, but you have to be strong for your husband. Don't think about how long it will be until you see him, think about what you are going to do with him when he gets home, what your going to mail him next, what you are going to say to him when he next calls, etc. Before you know it you will get into a routine and the time will start to fly by. Make sure that you keep your family close to you during this time and communicate with your family readiness group (after all, thats what their there for).

Good luck to you and your husband and God bless!!

My Husband just left for overseas and I know how you feel. It is so hard not having him here but it's nice to talk to him everyday. My friends and family are there for me, so I try not to worry to much about what is going on over there. I don't watch the news either cause then it makes me worry alot. Just keep yourself busy and try not to think to much about it.

if you feel like you cant function anymore, you need to seek counseling. also look into support groups. talking through your feelings will help so much. my husband has been gone for 10 months now, and i still have times when i dont feel like doing crap, and i feel overwhelmed a lot. just try to stay busy and focused on your part, like paying the bills and taking care of the things that need to be done. this way, you can know you are helping him out, because he wont have to worry about all the stuff going on back home. please, seek counseling, it really will help.

You have to keep busy. Thats the only thing that will keep you sain. Exercise helps as well. See friends, volunteer your time somewhere, hospital, church, etc. Anything to stay busy. When your busy you don't think as much.
