I wouldn't restrict the word NETWORK only to computers.
- A network can be between friends too. :P
- A bluetooth connection between two devices (say cell phones) creates a PAN (Personal Area Network).
- When talking about computers, it is of various types depending upon the area covered e.g. LAN, WAN, MAN, and yes Internet too.
General Definition: "In its simplest form, a network is at least two communicating entities (entity can be humans, computers, etc) connected together via any medium (medium can be wire/wireless for computers)"
Technical Definition: "A network consists of two or more computers that are linked in order to share resources (such as printers and CD-ROMs), exchange files, or allow electronic communications. The computers on a network may be linked through cables, telephone lines, radio waves, satellites, or infrared light beams."

You have a hub in you house that allows you to hook up many different computer in one or different room. All computers work independently and can be use by as many people as computers at the same time for different sites.
that is want a mini network is a small version of a large business computer network

people who prefer to get forward in corporation or life "community." meaning they communicate with all of their "connections" ( people) in case they may be powerful to them in some way or yet another. called schmoozing.
