They want to appear a 'tough guy', and it seems that laughing at things that make others cry is one way to do that. It's just a macho thing that (if they're lucky) fades in time.

The sexual abuse of boys happens A LOT more often than is conventionally thought, and few boys will report their assault.

If they report they were assaulted by a male, they worry they'll be considered gay.
If they report that they were assaulted by a woman (and this happens FREQUENTLY), they feel that either they should be thankful for a sexual experience, or they're scared that others will ridicule them for complaining about 'gettin' laid', and maybe think they're gay.

The boys in the back of the class are just falling into societal traps, acting how they feel society thinks they should feel. Unfortunately they're just reinforcing the fears that any sexually assaulted boys in your class may have.

I don't know why, but it's a well-known fact that girls mature faster than boys, biologically, psychologically, and socially. I suppose it can probably be explained on evolutionary principles, somehow. As evidence, you'll see a lot more girls going out with older guys than guys going with older women. And you'll see a lot more guys going for younger girls, because the girls their age are too mature for them. A lot of the boys will catch up with you later, but not all of them. They guys in your class were laughing because they weren't grown up enough to deal emotionally with the subject, so they laughed as a way of trying to minimize something they didn't know how to deal with.

Hon, that's just boys. They lack the usual filter between their thoughts and their mouths and actions. I have 3, so have noticed that it doesn't get better until about age 22-24! Really, boys do "get a clue" eventually. Until then, we're just stuck with them!

If they didn't laugh they would have to deal with their feelings on the reality of sexual abuse. It's not about immaturity. Their laughs are a defense and protection.

If one person laughs, others who socialize with him follow, to try and be "cool" Anything thats sexual boys will laugh at, but if they were actually sexual abused i think they faces would be sour.

Yes definaltey a defense mechanism. Notice we laugh during horror movies, sad movies, weddings. Places that girls cry. Either we will laugh or think about something else.

Why do girls ostracize those different? Because most humans are weak & think by acting indifferent, they are strong.
