My friend has always been the outgoing, cool one and I have always been the shy, quiet one. This year at school, now that we are in the 10th grade, she has totally ditched me. I tried to talk to her about it but she blames it all one me and says I am anti-social. This is totally untrue, because I was in the homecoming court this year. I got over it and have been hanging out with my other friends. The other day this cute guy that she likes came up to her and asked her where I was. She told me this later in class and she was like "why would he be asking for you?" She cannot get over the fact that some one might like me. How should I prove her wrong with out looking and acting like a total skank?
FYI: The hottie is two grades younger, and I don't like him, but he is really nice in a skaterboy way.

Your friend is totally not worthy of you. If she acts that way, pretend you don't care, or if you really want to work things out, talk to her. To tell you the truth, if you REALLY want to prove her wrong, become really social with a big group of friends and maybe find a boyfriend.

She is obviosly really jealous.

You don't need to prove anything to anyone but yourself. At your age and I am assuming that you are around fifteen social situations are stressful because a lot of them are totally new to you. As you are around others your social skills will develop and you will be absolutely confident in everything you do. You take your time and don't worry about impressing her. To me you sound like a very mature, intelligent girl and high school is not the be all end all. Most people look back at those years with less than fond memories. Enjoy who you are and don't let your actions conflict with your beliefs otherwise you will be extremely unhappy and no ex friend is worth that. Anyone who can't appreciate our flaws as well as our gift is not much of a friend anyway.

gratz on being on homecoming court!

well, i suggest you talk to a hottie one grade ahead of you and ask him if he will help you with something very important. explain the whole thing. if he is a nice guy he will help you, and you will become friends ( maybe even a couple, eh? ) and your friend will be totally jealous. all i say is to ask him to hang out with you a lot first, then have him ask you out or something.

otherwise, slap the %!+($ in the face

Oh boy....this spells out drama! Well your friend is just jealous that some guy is looking for you. I mean what's wrong when a guy is looking for you? You should just confront her and ask her what's her problem. If she keeps acting like this, then she's not your true friend. Friends don't treat their friends in a nasty way. I think you should just find a new one that won't treat you like that.

Don't try to prove anything to her. If you like this guy just go out with him and let any potential relationship develop naturally. You don't have to prove yourself to this girl.

Sounds like your "friend" is really jealous. You can't deal with her insecurities, so just move on. In time, perhaps she'll get her head on straight; until then, you really can't do anything for her.

Why not just act mature? I mean, cmon, this is a little dramatic, even for highschool crap, isn't it? Why do you care what she thinks? Go about your business and ignore her. One of ya needs to grow up and act mature about it, why not you?
