I have a prescription narcotic for pain. I need them and I only take them every couple hours, as directed by the doctor. However, when I first got them they gave me a dose that was much too high and I got very sick. The have since got me on the right amount, but now my roommate is worried. She stole them and hid them in her room so I don't "die" from them. I can't get another prescription because I've only had them a couple days and they don't just hand that **** out. I really need them but she keeps telling me they'll make me sick. She is not my freaking doctor and I need my medicine back. Short of ransacking her room and car to find them, how do I get her to give them back to me?

Depending on what state you are in, it is considered a felony offense to possess prescription narcotics if they are not yours, as with most prescription medications. You need to remind your roomate that he/she is not a doctor, and that the doctor gave you those pills for good reason. If the problem continues, I might first try to contact another, mutual friend to try and intervene. If that does not work, I would have to say call the police to try and mediate the dispute. Good luck, and i hope you feel better.

if you threraten to call the cops and tell them she stole them to take herself she may give em back then. if not, maybe you should. who knows where those are floatin around?!? if someone else gets their hands on the bottle with your name on it and they end up on the street it's your butt that's in trouble. i would think about the cop threat. how dare her! you must be in so much pain! that is just about the rudest thing i've ever heard! sure, they can be misused, but some people really do them, or doctors wouldn't give them! I had some narcorics after I had my baby. So I can understand NEEDING them. If I missed a dose I wasn't walking!

Tell her you are going to call the police on her if she doesn't hand them over. She could go to jail and get charges pressed against her for possessing a narcotic without a prescription, especially since they have your name on the bottle.

Ask her politely one more time to give them back to you....Im sure you have discussed the past issues with your doctor and It is probably a different medication.
Tell her thanks for caring, but youre grown now and that you can take care of yourself.
If she doesnt give them back, call the police, because that isnt right at all

Tell her flat out to give them back. You were prescribed them and you need them. She is not a medical profession she can not make this call. Tell her if she dosent you can call the cops beacuse it is illegal to have someone else' proscription unless they are your child. And you are certainly not hers! Your a grown woman and can make your own damn decisions it is not her place.

put a nice friend in between the two of you...i have the feeling she is trying to protect you...are you sure you are in control of your own body and situation...if you can answer yes then seek a second opinion with a medical professional. good health is important --more than friendship.

Are you sure she didn't take them herself? What a very irresponsible thing to do. She needs to know you are in pain and you need them back. Where does she get off taking them? I'd smack her in the head
