My girlfriend says the lighting in our bathroom sucks, and I tend to agree. We are in a rental, so doing any kind of electrical work is out of the question. Is there some type of good bathroom lighting that comes with a cord to just plug it in? Perhaps a 3 bulb track lighting type thing? I'm electrically challenged, so any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Yes there are, but there is not that much out there. Here is a link for one of them that I found. At least when you leave you can take it with you as you said.

I didn't see any track light that plugged in. Everything seems to be hardwired. I hope this helps. Good luck.

The correct answer is,step up and take it to another level.First check out the current location your existing light is in for clearance.Go to the store of your choice and purchase the lamp that you like.If you are near COSTCO or SAMS CLUB they usually have good deals on these $ 14 to $20 for real nice lights.Take your purchase home,on the weekend or whenever you have daylight to work with.Turn on your bathroom light,go to your elect. panel and look inside the door,it usually is marked with the correct breaker.Have someone stand near the bathroom and tell you when the light goes off as you either unscrew the fuses or flip off the breakers 1 at a time until you get the light to go off .At this point you have no electricity that can shock you.The rest is simple.Remove the nut or nuts that hold the old light on ,a pair of pliers needed.you will find 3 wires a red(this may be a white wire and will be attached to the white wire that is in the wall) a black and a green. They will be connected with wire nuts, unscrew every nut, take note all the wires are the same color on both sides (example,a green wire will be twisted to another green wire with those wire nuts)So when you put them back on all you will need to do is wire nut(twist the wires together clockwise and then twist the wire nut onto the wire) all 3 wires. You may need to have a friend hold the new lamp as you do this. Then put the light in place and install the new nut(s) to hold it in position.Flip the breaker, after installing light bulbs.Your in business.Save the old light and all the small parts in the box to change when you leave, good practice, use sandwich bag for small parts keep all in box.
Dude, forget the cords, step it up. Follow these steps and you can do this in no more than 30 min. probably a lot less. Gator

There are lighting fixtures out there that can be placed anywhere you want them. They are not fancy, generally a small florescent bulb attached to a self sticking tape. These lights have an in-line switch which can be turned off and on. Check with your local hardware store and see what they have available.

hi, is there any room on the vanity to put a small table lamp? maybe one that shines light upward, or an electrical hurricane lamp. they also make these round stick up lights that run on batteries, used mostly for closet lighting, that would add some additional lighting, or how about stringing christmas lights around the mirror, top of the wall, around a window. all will add to the overall illumination of the room, as well as being removeable..good luck

even challanged folks can turn off al ight switch, and remove a now"dead"(test first tho) light fixture....and simply replace it over the old fixture....adding more light...ex: replace a one lamp fixture with a 3 or 4 bulb type simply remove, and take off the 3 wires, putting themback on the new fixture wires the same,,

For safety reasons, ensure any portable light fixture is plugged into a properly function GFCI outlet.

Go buy a $10 fixture at Home Depot and have a friend who is a bit handy, install it. Make dinner for him.
