My favorites are the Ender and Shadow sagas by Orson Scott Card and Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.
Ender's Game (Book 1 in the Ender saga) by Orson Scott Card tugs at your emotions, it plays with your mind, and it makes you think. New York Times: "Intense is the word for Ender's Game."
Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series is also very good. It is a lot of books that are pretty long, but they are pretty fantastic. I read the first book in a day, I just couldn't put it down.
Also good books: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, The Best Little Girl in the World by Steven Levenkron, Beyond Chocolate War by Robert Cormier, Blood and Chocolate By Annette Curtis Klause, Candy by Luke Davies, Children of the Mind by Orson Scott Card, The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier, Cut by Patricia McCormick, The Dragon Reborn by Robert Jordan, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card, The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan, The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan, The Gospel According to Larry by Janet Tashjian, The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan, The Hegemon's Shadow by Orson Scott Card, The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, I Am the Cheese by Robert Cormier, It Happened to Nancy by Beatrice Sparks, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, A Meeting in Ender's Universe by Orson Scott Card, A Memory of Earth by Orson Scott Card, Pure Sunshine by Brian James, On The Fringe by Donald R. Gano, Shadow of a Giant by Orson Scott Card, Shadow of the Hegemon by Orson Scott Card, Shadow Puppets by Orson Scott Card, The Shadow Rising by Robert Jordan, Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card, A Spell for Chamelon by Piers Anthony, Smack by Melvin Burgess, The Luckiest Girl in the World by Steven Levenkron, The Source of Magic by Piers Anthony, and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll, Xenocide by Orson Scott.

Any of Dan Brown's other books (Angels and Demons, Digital Fortress, etc.), Harry Potter, The Pendragon Series, Eragon, Eldest, any of Jodi Picoult's novels (they may be a little harder than DaVinci, but are well worth the read, she spins a story so intriguing and believable, it is hard to see the book end) in particular, My Sister's Keeper and Vanishing Acts.

Inheritance trilogy by Christopher Paolini, Bartimaeus trilogy Jonathon Stroud, any book by George R.R Martin, Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling, Young Wizard Series by Diane Duane, Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson, Honeymoon by James Patterson.
Inheritance Trilogy has one last installment. Maximum ride series has more installments.
I had to read Ender's Game for Summer reading During school. It was pretty good. Ender's Shadow and any other book related to Ender is basically the same story from different people.

James Patterson has a good series out for Young Adults although I have read them and liked them. The first one is Maximum Ride-The Angel Experiment, the second is Maximum Ride-School's Out Forever. They are about a group of kids who were genetically altered in-utero or at birth. They all have wings, are very strong and one or two of them have additional abilities. They escaped from the "school" where they had lived and are on the run from the Erasers as well as trying to find out where they came from.
Another series is the Jennifer Scales series by Anthony Alongi and Mary Janice Davidson. (She also has a few series for adults that you may like although depending on your age, you may want to wait a bit. They are good but there are language and sex issues.) The first books is Jennifer Scales and the Ancient Furnace, the second is Jennifer Scales and the Messenger of Light. The main character (Jennifer) finds out she's a weredragon and changes during the crescent moon. A very good read for teens or adults. You can check out all of her books at www.maryjanicedavidson.net

I really enjoyed The Bartimaeus Trilogy.
The Amulet Of Samarkand
The Golems' Eye
Ptolemys Gate
I just finished reading it. By the way, I am 37 and borrowed it from my daughter. When you get older you might like the gunslinger series by Stephen King.
