You should not have any problems as long as you do not hit any hard bumps that could damage the springs that suspend the pump and motor inside the compressor and you allow at least one hour before turning it on so the oil can run back into the compressor.

No its not safe. But if you have no choice and you do lay it down DO NOT lay it on its coils. When you get to the other end stand fridge upright. Open doors and let stand for about 4hrs. After that plug in and close doors. Set to desired temp. Maybe you'll be a lucky one. Reason for letting fridge set in upright position is to let the freon settle back in where it belongs before turning on. Leaving the doors open will stop fridge from getting a mildew smell. Good Luck! Have a Happy Move.

If you do, when you stand it up, let it stand for a couple days before plugging it in, because when you lay them down the oil goes some place it don't belong, and you have to give it time to drain back where it belongs. I don't know the techical details but I know that is what happens

Wait for a couple or three hours before turning it on. You shouldn't have any problems. Been there, done that.

It should be standing upright. I think the only problem would be that you would lose freon.
