If the weatherman says there is a 50% chance of rain and it does not rain, was he right or wrong? Don't you wish YOU could get a job like that?

Hey, I don't hate the weatherman. This morning, the local forecast said, "SLIGHT chance of SEVERE thunderstorms." How do you prepare for THAT???
I've heard it said that cows will lay down before a rainstorm. Once, I drove by a pasture and about half the cows were laying down. My son said, "Look, Dad. 50% chance of rain."

Good evening folks, time for the weather report. Tonight there is a fifty percent chance of rain. What does that mean? Well look at the satellite here. It might rain. But it's just as likely not to. There will, however, be weather. Now for other news lets get back inside..... Sandy, back to you....

Yeah, I could do that!!

He's right, 'cause there was a 50% chance of "not rain." Since the weatherman is 90% correct 10% of the time, it's probably not a bad gig.

50% chance of rain means 50% of the area included will have rain. So, the weatherman is right if rain falls on just some areas.

Even if he says there is a 98% chance of rain and it doesn't rain, he is still right! That's the whole idea. When I was a kid the weatherman would say "it will rain tomorrow" or "it won't rain tomorrow". Sometimes they were right and sometimes wrong. Today they are never wrong.

i think the real question there is, " is the glass half emply or half full?"
THE ANSWER:
if it rains and the cup is outside the glass will be all the way full, if it doesnt rain and the water evaporates, all the way empty. i know this doesnt have anything to due with your question. sorry
i guess he was half right because he said 50% not 100%. and if he was wring i guess it wouldnt be his fault, it would be the person who types what to say on th etelepropter.
and i would love to have a job like that. i would tell everyone it would snow in the middle of august if your're in florida or california or something.

A man storms into the office of his local news station and walks right past the front desk to the weathermans office. He then proceeds to dump a large bucket of snow on the weathermans desk.
"What is this?!" asked the weatherman
"Oh, just a sample of the 5 inches of sunshine I had to shovel off my driveway today!"
Weathermen are hated worldwide... I don't envy them at all.

once you toss a coin, 10 cases, below suited circumstances, you will get tail 5 cases and head 5 cases.meaning that there is a 50% hazard which you will get tail. further, 50% hazard of rain skill that below comparable climate circumstances, 50% of the time, it rained interior the previous.
