He already is great, he just need another year or two to cement his reputation. He hit .342 last year, and he was AWESOME after his return from his injury. The only thing that is disappointing is that he is forced to bat ninth, and it robs him of a lot of at-bats.

Yes, I agree he will be a three hitter, and I compare him as a hitter to a young Don Mattingly. Great contact hitter, great swing, power is coming along, and line drive after line drive.

I'm a yanks fan and I love the guy. He's a great player and his hitting is coming along greatly. I liked Soriano a lot but Cano is the right guy to replace him in the lineup.

Cano has already proven himself as one of the best 2B in the AL and has exceed expectation faster than Soriano did in N.Y. (it took 3 years for Soriano to breakout). I agree that he's batting 9th in a loaded Yankees lineup and that's not helping, but so did Soriano in his first two years as a Yankees and look what happen. Barring that he's healthy, he should move up in that loaded lineup with the immiment departure of Gary Sheffield (Sheffield is expected to excercise his player option and become a Free Agent, but the Yankees are looking to sign him to a one year deal, which Sheffield is not expect to sign) and get more RBI opportunity. His value should rise for him to either sign an extension or become a trade bait to get a better player.

If he stays healthy he has the potential to be a great 2nd baseman.
