if ur sure that the CD's that ur trying are ok, and if not a single CD works then u might want to try a CD cleaner.. CD cleaners are for sale and they are not usually too expensive..

I've heard about a lot of people having this trouble recently. I hate to say it, but it's probably not the lens that's dirty. If you're computer knows that there is a cd rom drive (you have the drive letter listed) then it could be the drive failing. I would agree that the best option may be to buy a new drive, they aren't expensive and very easy to put in, just a couple screws and cables. That should get you back up and running

If you are having a problem with burned CD's then I would blame the disks or the method of burning. If you have a consistant problem with reading known good disks then your CD ROM needs replacing.
Hope this helps!

Go to control panel, system, hardware, device manager. Find the line that says CD/DVD and click on the plus sign to expand it. Remove the entries with a right click, uninstall. Restart the computer and Windows will rebuild the software and hardware drivers.
Make sure you are also free of spyware virus and infections.

Hi,
Well that could be the problem, however if you have an older cdrom drive it won't read burned cds just FYI.
Anyway, buy some compressed air from Walmart and open the drive then let it rip!
