where do you fit in with a group like that???!!! well, i am an avid reader so maybe i could be of assistance. sister in law 1: do not give books about raising kids or such. it will send a message that she isn't doing a good job. so give her a book like Anita Stansfield. very good romance and nothing dirty in 'em. sister in law 2: also could be good with anita stansfield. bro in law: something political or states a bold opinion. that way he can argue or challenge it. maybe he likes puzzles. try sudoku. brother 1: do these typical kinds of brothers like reading? try sports illistrated. brother 2: a book by famous philosophers such as Neitsche (spelling?).

Hmm. Let's see.
For the anti-social brother-in-law, I'd suggest: "Play the Piano Drunk, Like a Percussion Instrument Until the Fingers Begin to Bleed a Bit" - by Charles Bukowski. (Stay away from this book if he's a religious man. lol) A book of poetry. The book contains a mixture of humour, philosophy and a unique, but sometimes cynical view of the world. A good read for misanthropes and the misunderstood.

The Peach Cobbler Murder. The Blueberry Muffin Murder.
Being Human. The Cat Who Went To Breakfast. The Cat Who Saw Red. For Sister-In-Law#2- The Horse Whisperer. I couldn't read through, and I like horses, too. But maybe she could read it through.
For Brother#2, how about a book by a different author?- Such as Hemingway.
For all of them, how about a msytery novel that, the heroine works in her own card making shop? I know there are, at least 2.
I think the author's last name is, Bright.

For Brother2, I would suggest the new fantasy book Here There Be Dragons by James A. Owen. It is a book with three heroes, one of which is a young (fictional) C.S. Lewis "Jack". The other two are Tolkien and Charles Williams. It is a very fun book referencing lots of other fantasy literature in addition to the Chronicles and Lord of the Rings.

I am in no way a very religious person. I was thinking about divorce and starting over. Life was at it's worst and then I read The Five People You Meet In Heaven. For some reason it put everything in perspective for me when I thought it was going to be a simple read (no more than 200 pages in the book). It's about a man who works at a pier carnival and he's older. It starts off with a count down to his death and then when he dies, he starts again in childhood and progresses through his life again stopping at certain points that were somehow important and each person at those points explains something about his life in a way he never thought about. The book is wonderful and it made me think about my life and the reason I chose certain paths instead of others.

technology FICTION all people ignores sci-fi however the certainty is that some books are almost 0.5 philosophy. study Stranger in an ordinary Land by way of Robert A. Heinlein, Prey by way of Michael Crichton, and 2001: an area Odyssey or Rendevous With Rama by way of Arthur C. Clarke. Plus, I agree that Agatha Christie is a might desire to-study. After Shakespeare and the Bible, she has offered the main form of books international ever. Her superb are and then there have been None, The homicide of Roger Ackroyd, homicide on the Orient exhibit

For your brother-in-law, you might consider getting a Jodi Picoult book, she takes modern controversial issues and writes novels about them, Salem Falls might be a good one or Vanishing Acts.
For Sister-in-law1, maybe something by Meg Cabot, her books are very happy and comical. Possibly Boy Meets Girl.

I think your Sister-in-law 2 would like The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, a classic. I haven't read it but it did win a bunch of prizes.
I can't figure out anything else for the other people. Sorry! =P
