How come it's racist to even call an African American a 'black person', but it isn't racist to continually and publicly make fun of the way Canadians say 'eh?' Just curious, lol.

It's not racist to call an African American "black", because that's the truth, just as "whites" are whites. It's not an insulting word.
Canadians don't all say "eh" -that's a myth, and Canadians know it is, so they aren't bothered by it. What defines racism? Ignorance, disrespect and fear of other races and cultures (xenophobia.) Become familiar with others' cultures and you won't be a racist.

It's racist to call an African American a 'black person' because they have once been slaves(no offense!)and were treated unfairly. Everybody knows about that which is why nobody calls an African American a 'black person'. When we make fun of the way Canadians say 'eh' that isn't serious. Your'e not going to get angry if someone tells you that you say "Cowabunga" all the time...would you?

It is fine to call African Americans Black people. This is not a racist remark. And since Canadian is a nationality and not a race, you don't have a valid comparison.

Good try though- you almost had us going. Next time dig a little deeper.

Calling black people black is not racist. Im reffered to as "white" all the time. Racism is discrimination/preferencing based on race and possibly nationality. Canadians saying 'eh' is more of Americans mocking your coloquialisms, just as northerners may make fun of southerners accents

Don't know that "AA" or "black" is any more correct than the other. Styles change, preferences modify. When in doubt call people by their names rather than other identifiers.

The Canadian thing is cultural rather than racist .. and it's just a speech pattern. Nobody's saying that Canadians are deficient just because of how they talk.

Racism to me means speaking in general terms about a race imputing derogatory things to all its members when it isn't true. (Most statements that begin "All blacks..." "All whites ..." "All Orientals..." are suspect, unless it's something that's true in ABSOLUTELY EVERY case.)

BUT, you can be equally racist in polite statements -- what really matters is whether you put racial matters in the forefront, or just try to deal with Abdul or Mustafa or Kanji or Joseph or Pablo as a singular person.

YOU DEFINE RACIST DIFFERENTLY THAN I.
RACIST IS HATE PURE AND SIMPLE--STUPID AND IGNORANT PEOPLE HATE.

BLACK IS NOT A RACIST WORD.
WHITE IS NOT A RACIST WORD.

BUT THE WAY-INTENT- YOU USE THOSE WORDS CAN BE.

anything the injured say it is. It's odd that the children have to be taught to hate, mistrust, and to call names and labels.
