ok one of my friends just died in a car crash about 3 weeks ago. well i was close to him but only met his family twice(and once was at the funeral) but i really want to do something for the family. what should i do?

sorry to hear that, but i honestly don't think there's much that you can do because the more you visit them and keep reminding them, they might resent you. for a while, just keep your distance, visit the grave and leave a little note card w/your name. the family members will see the flowers and your persistency and respect you for being so kind and loyal. then later you could visit their home to reminisce and bring them a nice conversation meal like pastries or pies, just something to have a cup of coffee or tea with. hope your days are filled w/sunshine and joy from this moment on!

One of my friends just died a few months ago. His family wanted recent pictures of him. They live in another state. He was camera shy, but I had a few. Any anecdotes you have about him would be nice. Like you I had only met his family once or twice before he died (I knew him 14 yrs), but we have become e-mail pen pals since.

make them a dinner or just visit them a lot to confort them and tell them how much of a good friend he was and stuff

a good way might be to simply talk to the family about how you feel. sharing the burden with others can be a very good way to deal with your feelings

If i were you, I would send a plant and a card identifying yourself and offering your condolensces.
