A zorse is the offspring of a zebra stallion and a horse mare. It is a zebroid: this term refers to any hybrid equine with zebra ancestry. The zorse is shaped more like a horse than a zebra, but has boldly striped legs and, often, stripes on the body or neck. Like most other interspecies hybrids, it is infertile. (cannot produce). Cossar Ewart, Professor of Natural History at Edinburgh (1882-1927) and a keen geneticist, crossed a zebra stallion with horse and pony mares in order to investigate the theory of Telegony (pregnancy), or paternal impression. Cossar Ewart used Arabian mares. The first born is believed to be in 1899 and was photographed. So it is not a new practice, just not a very common one. A Zonkey is a cross between a zebra and a donkey. They are infertile too. They are very pretty and can be trained to do any horse's job, but of course not as well as certain horse breeds that have been bred to do their jobs. They are different to train as are mules, you really have to know how to get to their brain and use that special knowledge. Pro trainer and breeder
