scared the hell out of me when i was 8... it took me years till i could read it again, all the while i couldn't even look at the book cover... what makes it a suspense i guess is that the main character is such a scrawny, anti-hero type of guy and you wonder how could he save the village from a brooding, ex-military, un-dead dude. suspense scene has to be the bridge bit.

i'm in the middle of it right now actually....
i don't know about the suspense part but it's definately different than most stories because the main character doesn't fit the typical good guy / hero mold. he's scrawny and selfish and i complete jerk. i guess i kinda like the story because it is very different.

well i've heard diffrent versions of it
in the version i heard when i was little iccabod crane shot off a guys head with a cannon in the war and later on the story began
