Good question and thoughtful follow-up questions.

The Matrix.

I almost feel ashamed to say I liked this movie so much, because the satirical part of me says, well it was just made for money and it was like action with a reason. However...

To me The Matrix was a revolution in movies. I've noticed that other movies have started using the slow-framed action scenes. And yet, in The Matrix, they were there for a reason. Because they were in the matrix, and the person there, if so adept, could bend time and space as they realized the truth in their own mind.

I connected to the movie, partly because of my own love of martial arts, the tiresome feeling I have for most other martial arts movies that are just pretty special affects with no explanation except that the character is just a badasss, and the hero was a loner, and a humble person to boot who did not really ask for the roll of hero.

The Rose. I have always felt lost and alone even in a crowd and though I am not famous or rich I have never been able to keep a relationship. I feel the pain of the character. It also came out at a time when I thought this one relationship was going to work out and we saw the movie together.

"Glory" (1989): In my opinion, this is the greatest Civil War movie of all time. Starring Matthew Brodderick, Denzel Wahington, and Morgan Freeman, this movie showcases the bravery of Colonel Robert Gould Shaw and the rest of the 54th Massachusettes Infantry. It proves the point that blacks were willing and able to fight to help restore the Union and erase the scourge of slavery in the United States.

Shawshank Redemption

It's a lesson in hope no matter how bad the circumstances. Great acting too.

Are you kidding me? Did you beat off after getting home from your first Harry Potter movie?

Girl, Interrupted. I can relate to all the main characters, especially in my early 20s. I've had the promiscuous personality like Susanna, felt completely psychotic like Lisa, and even battled an eating disorder like Daisy. That movie really hits me in the gut evertime I see it!

I love The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Its so real and its not a story where everything has to turn out good because thats what people want. its real and it gives a good idea to people about how rough life's roads can be. i admire the director's perspective of reality.
