My dad (88) has a chance to be cared for at home, but my sister (who has the power to decide for him) has put him in a nursing home where he's not allowed to walk, he misses his friends and the things he used to do, the food is put through the blender and the water is thickened so he hates to drink it. He's been there four months and is "falling down" fast. It's like seeing a very slow murder and you're helpless to stop it. I can hardly bear to watch it! I am so eager to just walk away and just let nature take its course, but so far I'm visiting Dad every day and thinking of every possible way to communicate with my sister what's happening and the fact that we still have a choice.

I've always stepped up, because you know what? Even if you are ill with the worst chronic pain ever, there may/will come a day when you won't have it anymore. If you are feeling sad and alone one day, just wait or do something, reach out, go for a walk, see how beautiful things are, smile at the sad face of a stranger and watch their faces light up -- all bad things pass, and good thinngs come. It's sort of cyclical. If you're going through a "nasty", you can be sure there'll be a "nicey" coming along around the corner.
It's like a law of the universe.
I've stepped up, yes, but that doesn't mean I haven't groaned and moaned a bit. I know life isn't easy, but who said it was? It's not that awful, either. Laughter and sleep are good medecines. Take them. I've had such pain I've wished I could find release in death, but people told me not to give up. I didn't, and now I am cured and have no pain.
Have faith, be strong, because, brother, you've got no choice.
Take care;-)
