I do not know whether you intend to visit India, as a tourist or to migrate from other country. As a tourist, India is a nice place and you have a lot of interesting places in India. As to safety, it is a reaosnably safe place to visit, provided you take reasonable precautions, which we in India ourselves do.

If you want to move to India, to live permanently, there are a few matters to be considered and decided.
Firstly, Do you have cultural affinity with India and will you be at home in the midst of the Indians, who are following different traditions and cultures than the people in the country when you presently live?
Secondly, Even if you feel that you cope with the environs in India and you are enamoured about it, then I should advise you to be moderate about your enthusiasm. Your euphoria will die down, after some time, here, and you will suffer a deep sense of disappointment, if the people here disappoint you. You should be realistic. You life here may not be a bed of roses, if you are not realistic enough to understand life every where has got both good and bad. A practical life is one in which we guard ourselves against the possible evil.
Thirdly, do you have your own people, relations, close friends whom you can turn to in case of any difficulty? You must have been accustomed to living, where rule of law prevails. Although, in paper, we have a democratic system, and courts, it is still a far cry to expect that all are equal and all are equal before law and you are entitled to equal treatment before law. Hence, you have to have some persons, who will guide you to the right behaviour in public life.

Other wise, it is not a bad place to live. If you choose to live in some really big cities, like Bombay, Bangalore, Pune, which are good places to live for the pensioners and the rich people, in the evening of their life, there are facilities for a peaceful and safe living. Good Luck.

For migration back ? India is hopeless
country to live in.

If you have lot of money, (in millions of $)
then you may consider, otherwise not.

You have to buy a flat at Nariman Point,
Mumbai or at Malabar Hills, where the best
of the people of the country live and their
attitude towards life, neighbours are
excellent, positive and helpful and have
no egos. Everywhere else, you will be
confronted with a hostile/intimidating
looks.

There are problems of
1. Sanitation,
2. Water Shortages(potable)
3. Electricity.
4. Inadequate security,
5. Non- cooperative neighbors.
6. Law and Order.
7. Mean attitude of the neighbours.
8. Dirty surroundings.
9. Favor seekers at door steps.
10. Argumentative neighbours.
11. Always looking to deceive you.
12. Bad characters will get to know
about your wealth very quickly and
attempt to rob you.
13. Can't raise your voice against
any misdeed of any of the service
providers.
14. Police will never help you for
any crime committed against you
or your family.
15. Various local politicians/goondas
would like to affiliate you to their
party by extorting donations and favours.
16. The doctors are cheat and will fleece
you for all sorts of tests, from where they
earn 50% as commission. needless
tests are prescribed for commissions.
17. Most of the foods are adultrated,
including the essential Milk and oils.

NO SAFETY AT ALL EVEN ON THE ROADS AND MARKET PLACE OR IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT AS THE GOVERNMENT IS TOTALLY CORRUPT AND SO IS THE BUREAUCRATS.

It depends. if you ar planning a visit - most places are very safe. in fact more safe than any place in the USA. There are some places in India which may not be safe. If you ask for this information, any tourist office in India will advise you on this. There is lot of street food available in India - very cheap - a full meal for 20-30 cents. You need to be careful in spite of hte temptation. Bottled drinking water is available at all place at 30 cents a litre. train travelling is safe. If you are adventurous and try to move about in jungles, terrorist areas etc. it is definitely unsafe.
