He has been told it could be 3 months plus for hospital appointment, he is very uncomfortable and in pain, off sick from work at the moment. Any advice/help would be appreciated.

He has seen GP several times now, but they don't seem to be taking him too seriously and said he needs to wait for hospital appointment! I think he should be getting more help as the hernia lump is looking bigger.

Both conditions could turn serious at any time. If it's so bad he's off work, he needs to see a doctor sooner rather than later. Get him to ring NHS Direct (0845 46 47) if he can't wait until Monday for an appointment - best advice I can give without knowing more about the symptoms.

No; do not wait. Having formerly worked in an Operating Room, hernias (depending on the type & severety) can be serios & lead to further complications if not taken care of quickly.
Pain in the body's signal that something is wrong & needs attention. Listen to the body & get it taken care of ASAP.

I suffered from panic assaults that made me sense bodily sick, each and every now and then they made me sense as though i became dropping my marbles or that I had a intense fever, an ulcer, or a coronary heart attack. each and every now and then they could take place whilst i became affected by the flu, and those have been the worst because of the fact they actually could make the flu look as though some uncommon deadly plague and hassle me plenty i could land up going to the scientific institution, purely to discover my tension became enjoying an costly trick on me. Later in existence, i found out the source of my tension became a tiny coronary heart murmur. I now use a yoga respiratory technique to regulate my panic assaults and my racing coronary heart. i'm ultimately freed from murmur precipitated tension and enjoying plenty greater advantageous well being and funds.

no hernia's are bad if you are quite active, a friend of mine in the army was refused the right to tour because it could create major problems.
tell him he should see a doctor just to ok him, theres no point ******* yourself up if theres an easy solution to your problem!!!

id rather wait 3 months than be in agony whenever i do any physical fitness!

sounds like he needs to have it fixed ASAP. 3 months is way too long to wait. Where do you live? somewhere with socialized medicine
