3x + 6 - 9 = 24x + 54 - 3x
Simplify:
3x - 3 = 21x + 54
get x's on same side:
-3 = 18x + 54
get numbers on same side:
-57 = 18x
Divide both sides by eighteen:
x = about -3.16

3 (x + 2) -9 = 6(4x + 9) -3x
open brackets to get
3x +6 –9 = 24x +54 –3x
-18x = 57
x= -57/18

Remember you order of operations PEMDAS [Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction] As long as you do it in that order you should be fine.
Now in this equation the ones in the parentheses are binomial terms. So look to your next order that you can use which is your multiplication. Your first order of business is to find out what 3(x+2) is. (Multiply the 3 by the other two terms x and 2. Simplify that answer by subtracting 9 from it and you have one side of the equation.
The other side of the equation you're kinda doing the same thing, or multiplying 6 by the other two terms 4x and 9. Then simplify by subtracting 3x. From there it should resemble a regular algebraic equation. Look at your scratch sheet and see which terms you can subtract or add to the other side to get all your variables one one side and your integer (a whole or negative number) one the other. Then divide both sides.
As you can see I'm purposely not giving you the answer, because then it will be harder to do next time. Just break down what I told you step by step and compare it to the work you've got in scrap. It's a lot easier than it sounds. Good luck!

3(x+2) -9 = 6(4x + 9) - 3x
3x + 6 - 9 = 24x + 54 - 3x
3x - 24x + 3x = -6 + 9 + 54
-18x = 57
x = 57/-18
So x = 3.166666666666666...
Easy as cake.

3x + 6 -9 = 24x + 54 - 3x
3x - 3 = 21x + 54
-18x = 57
x = -57/18
x = -19/6

so yeah it would be 3x + -3 = 21x + 54 the you subtract 3x 2 both sides and it would be -3+ 18x + 54 and then you would subtract 54 2 both sides and it would then be, 51=21x and then do the math! o gawd i think thats not right at all!!! OMG I SUCK!!!!!!!!!
