Lust is an overwhelming feeling -- a buzz -- a pull towards another person that makes you high as a kite one moment, and deeply saddened the next. Lust is light and fickle -- it's passionate. It's more of a wow! .... a feeling of awe.

Love runs deeper. Its a feeling of want and need, too, but it also includes a level of responsibility, respect, gratitude, amazement and gravity. Love is constant even if the situation isn't perfect.

For what its worth...lust and love are equal to me in terms of importance. I think wanting someone -- and wanting to feed wanted and needed is extremely important for us as humans. It makes us feel alive. Lust happens when so much is new, it's edgy. Love happens when we have time for the amazement to turn into respect. Like a well worn jacket -- it just feels right.

I don't think they are mutually exclusive, nor are they binary opposites. They are just different manifestations of attraction.

Love is when you are with someone you can not imagine them not being there with you. Knowing that you can tell this person ANYTHING and they will not judge you. Knowing no matter how bad things get or are they will stand BESIDE you and still not judge you even if your decision got you in this bad place you are at.
Love is when you are not with that person for some reason you feel like something is missing...something is just not right and you feel uncomfortable.
Love is a partnership....you are willing to do what ever it takes and so are they to walk side by side with no one leading or fallowing but together.
Love is when you wake up before they do...and you look at them and think I am sooooo lucky to have you here with me and I don't know what I would do without you here.

Lust as long as you are getting sex...you don't really care if you see the person again. You don't really need them around you all the time and are okay with it if they don't want to see you tonight.

Lust is when you want the other person for your physical needs and love is that and more. Love has the physical aspects but the caring for the other's feelings, the desire to be with the other forever, and the sense of protection are there. With lust, it isn't there but may come later when or if it develops into love, which it can

Love is SELFLESS, kind, gentle, understanding, caring, generous, and respectful. Love is also a choice, not just a feeling. When we love someone we should choose to love them even when our feelings tell us otherwise. Love withstands chaos, stress and struggles.

Lust on the other hand is selfish. Lust is a physical desire for someone and always comes from the lustful persons own desires...making it a selfish act, feeling and /or thought.
Lust is also a sin, and should be avoided. Lust has Nothing good to offer us.

Don't settle for LUST -
Hold out for LOVE, love, love.

Lust is physical attraction - it's all about the biological need for sex. (That isn't to say that you don't like who you're lusting after as a friend - the attraction makes the relationship.) Love is that attraction plus a great friendship - the sex, the companionship and the attachment. They aren't opposites.
