I just started watching GA this season and am trying to catch up on what happened seasons 1 and 2. What happened with Lizzie and her boyfriend? Did she do something illegal or unethical in the hospital that caused him to die? Is she responsible for his death?

Okay Denny came to the hospital to get a heart transplant. Two hearts became available but by the time that Dr. Burke got to the hospital to harvest the heart his patient was dead. Izzie decided to cut Denny's L-Vat wire so that he would qualify for the heart over the other patient that was put on the transplant list 16 seconds before Denny. Well Denny wound up getting the heart. He proposed to Izzie. The hospital was throwing the Chief's niece a prom so Izzie went home to change into her prom dress. Denny stroked out while she was at home. So I don't think she actually caused his death but cutting the wire was totally against the rules.

Well, Denny desperately needed a heart transplant to live but was
not first on the list of recipients when a heart became available. Izzie
cut off his oxygen and brought him to the brink of death, because once he was close to death he could be 1st on the list of recipients.
So she did this, and everyone knew what was going on and advised her not to, but no one did anything to stop her. Denny got the transplant, but his body rejected it, and he died. So no, she's not responsible for his death, but did engage in illegal and unethical practice in a desperate attempt to save his life:-) I personally think she needs to give up surgery and go back to modeling or try marketing her blueberry muffins. But it's TV so she'll come back and do fine and probably fall in love with Alex.

She cut his LVAD line so that he would go into cardiac arrest and would move up on the transplant list. The transplant was unsuccessful, he died afterwards due to a clot. It was determined during his surgery that he would not have lived through the day with his old heart anyway.

She didnt kill him, she cut the tubing or what ever on the heart machine for the sole purpose of bumping him up to get a heart faster, so yes that was unethical and illegal. He pulled through surgery fine, but died from a blood clot to the lung.. but till after he asked her to marry him.

Izzy tried to save Denny by cutting his L-Vat wire so that he would top the list for a donor heart. He got the heart and was fine, but still died due to complications (I think a blood clot). What she did was wrong and illegal. She was responsible for his death, but he would have died anyway w/ his bad ticker - it was just a matter of time.
She was previously involved w/ Alex, who still totally cares for her. I want to see that relationship develop more.

She cut him in order for him to get a heart transplant but he died that night after proposing to her, so Izzy and her friends got into trouble. Now she has 8.7 million dollars Danny left her.
