How do I talk my parents out of getting me grounded?

I accidentally said "F U" in front of my dad trying to answer his question and now he is mad at me and I can't go to the dance tonight. What should I say?

Ok.......this is what you do. You say Mom, Dad -- can I talk with you? It's really important. Then you get them sitting down somewhere, and you stand up and look them in the eyes and say humbly -- I'm so sorry, that I said those vulgar words earlier today. I have been so stressed out lately, because school is really tough, and I want to do well so you will be proud of me. I know that you raised me better than to talk like that, & I certainly didn't mean to disrespect you when I blurted it out earlier. I will try much harder to watch my language and find other ways to let you know I am frustrated. In the meantime, you know that I am supposed to go to that dance tonight, and I know that you need to punish me for being so rude. Is there any way that you might consider a compromise? Could I go to the dance tonight, and perhaps do an extra chore tomorrow to make up for it? I'm not asking to get off scot free from my punishment, I just wondered if we could defer it one day. I really need to go to this dance, I've been working so hard in school, and this would make it worthwhile. Please? And if they say no -- you could say, pretty please? I'll never say FU again........lol -- no, don't do that, I was just kidding. Just be mature, diplomatic. and stay calm, don't be wiggin' out. They hate that!

Say nothing, and be careful how you talk to others in the future. Cursing and profanity isn't cool, and all it does is to label you at the very least, as an undisciplined gutter mouth punk.
