please bring along the birth certificate of your daughter signifying that you are the mother. and a marriage contract if you are married to her father. and a notarized letter of consent of the father if alive, if not a death certificate. but it depends on the status of your last name from her last name.

I'm currently living in Cancun but I am a United States citizen and so is my daughter. My daughter, like yours has a diffrent last name than me, we both have a passport but when we went to Vegas a few months ago they gave me a little hard time because I had nothing saying I was her mother. I suggest you bring her birth certificate and both of your passports to make things a little easier.

This is the consular sheet for Mexico with the requirements as listed on the US Dept of State Website:
http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_970.html
Plus, you will need certified copies of why your names are different, such as your marriage license, and your custody papers. If your daughter does not have a passport, you will most likely have to have a notarized statement from her other parent giving her permission to leave the country. My sister goes through this every time she travels with her 16 yoa daughter, even though she has full custody and "dad" has no visitation. Check with your travel agent or whichever airline you will be taking to verify what Immigration on both sides will require. It's a good idea to have them just in case.
This is one way that the Authorities try and prevent parental abductions for those who aren't just vacationing with their kids.

Not as long as you both have proper passports. Even though you can technically travel to mexico without one until next year you will need a birth cert and other id if no passport. People in your sistuation cross the border everyday. If you are worried get a copy of her birth cert. Should be no prob.
