I'm wondering if people (here in America) pronunce "Halloween" differently according to where they are.

I'm from the New York area, and say it just as it's written: "HALLOW-een"; but, I've heard people here in northern Georgia say it "HOLLOW-een" (perhaps they think the name comes from hollowed-out pumpkins, who knows).

How do you say it? What region are you from?

And, thanks for playing the game!

P.S. That should have been "pronounce", of course. It's hard for me to type because there's pumpkin pie wedged in my keyboard.

In western New York the majority seem to say holloween. That's what we said In western Michigan too. It's definitely a regional thing.
In Michigan we said com-for-ta-ble, in NY it's comfterble.
Kinneygarten....Kindergarden
Tenni shoes...sneakers.

Say things however you want to, and hope that your older step-sister doesn't punch you for talking funny!

I pronounce it the same way you do and I'm from Ohio. But ya people do pronounce it differently because of what region they are from because of their accent. Accents make things sound differently

Holl-o-Ween. In my part of Ohio, that seems to be how people say it. They say holl part like holly but without the y. & the ween part like weiner without the er. But its all said like one word.
