I posted a blog about this. I only wish I would have posted here first because I am truly shocked by some of the answers.

It makes sense. More judges need to do things like that. You have these people who have kid after kid and are a drain on society. I know someone that has had 5 kids and doesn't have custody of any of them. I wish that judge was around here and would make her get her tubes tied.
-For the person that responded that they have 3 kids 3 fathers STOP HAVING KIDS!!!!

The judge can spew hyperbole from the bench - but he cannot enforce the order if she were to become pregnant. The judge realized that she was using forgery (rather than work or being paid court ordered child support) to provide for her children due to a drug conviction or any other illegal reason.

A judge in Michigan tried to legally prevent a woman from having a child out of wedlock (this was before welfare reform in the early 90's) but the appeals court quickly threw that order out on its head.

Judges also tried to order fathers to not conceive children and DNA tests exist to ensure that fathers are responsible for any children brought into the world.

Personally, I'm all for sterilization. I'd be more than happy to try some of the cases to determine who should be sterilized and who shouldn't be. :)

While I think it's pretty wrong of the judge to have done it, I like his style. We as a society should stop accepting junky people making junky decisions that affect the rest of us. It's not fair to their children.

When the welfare of the kids is obviously in danger, and when whe is as irresponsible as she is. She would certainly quality for the poster girl for what a mother is NOT suppose to be like.

unfortunately, there is nothing that judge can do about her having another child. there are no laws for or against peoples reproductive rights. i personally think there should be. you have to have a license to drive, own a dog, or even fish! but any stupid person can have a child.
