Go to Start --> Run, and type in cmd. That will bring up a DOS command prompt. If you are looking to start the computer in DOS, then restart the computer, hit F8 coninuously at startup, and then select "Safe Mode with command prompt" from the menu options. The only other way to truely get into the DOS program is to boot to a Windows 98 boot disk, and that will load the shell. Hope this helps..

click on start. run . type in the box
cmd then click on ok a dos window will open if you want in full dos put the windows xp .cd in then restart the pcas it is starting up keep tapping the (F8) key then your come to a menu move upto safemode then tap enter and then tap enter again the pc will load up in safemode full dos
