infant formulas are all nutritionally equivalent (the cheep stuff is the same as the name brand you pay less because of packaging and advertising)
that being said NO infant formula is FDA approved, infant formulas are not regulated or given approval by the FDA and even brand name formula has been known to be contaminated or not have the ingredients listed on the label... breast is best

The regulations on formula are very strict. Generic is just as good as brand name. What you are getting with brand name is the name and some extras that may or may not be important to the baby but yet aren't required by law to be in formula. Most formula made for brand names is manufactured by the same place that manufactures formula for generic brands. I honestly feel that it all depends on what your babies preferences are.

It's perfectly fine. My daughter gets half breastmilk/half formula, so I checked the labels. Target has EXACTLY the same nutritional content in their formula as Enfamil Lipil. They just recently upped the choline so that it matches Enfamil (about 3 mos ago it was half of Enfamil Lipil - it is now the same). Just make sure you get the Target with Lipids, and you're fine.
We have more than enough money to buy the expensive stuff, but why do it? IT'S THE EXACT SAME STUFF. If it makes you feel any better, I use the Target Diaper Cream, Target Diapers, and Target Formula, and put the money we save into her college savings.

The Target brand has the same ingredients as the high priced popular formulas. The only difference is that the formula company for Target isn't paying the hospitals to push their brand like Infamil and Similac do.

All formula has to be approved by the FDA before it can be put on shelves. It all is the same thing, manufactured by different companies. Don't feel bad about feeding your baby store brand formula. It's the same thing as Similac or Enfamil. For that matter of what your co-worker said, you don't know what the name brand companies put in their formulas. It's all manufactured the same, all has the same ingredients. Poo on your co-worker for making you feel bad!

I'm on my 3rd kid and i always switch between brand names and store brands. My kids are all fine. Actually at this second my 3 month daughter is sucking down a bottle of CVS brand formula. All you should worry about is what your doctor says. But my mother-in-law has been a Maternity ward nurse for about 15 years and she says that all brands have the same ingredients and to just buy the one that has DHA and ARA. Which you can find in the generic brands. Don't worry . I'm sure your a great mother. Who cares that you don't overspend on formula. Ther is plenty of worse things you could be doing.

A HUGE chain like Target isnt going to put bad formula out to make a few extra bucks if the babies will get sick. Buy all the Target brand you want!!

Actually, you DO know what they put in that stuff!
It's on the label!
And if it has the same ingredients, and the same nutritional values as the other brand, then I can only applaud you for being a frugal shopper.
So, here's my suggestion...Splurge on one package of the brand-name stuff. Use it (or mix it with the Target brand stuff), then fill the brand-name container with the Target brand product. Next time your coworker has the opportunity to see what kind of formula you're using, she'll think you took her advice.
BTW, I need to mention one other thing. It is SOOOOOO none of her business what you feed your family. Tell her to put her nose back in her own business, 'cause you don't have time for it in yours.

I use Target formula with no problems.
I learned that it's ok to use store-brand formula from my best friend who is a nurse (she also checked with her pediatrician before feeding it to her baby).
From what I understand, all baby formulas have to adhere to rigerous FDA standards.
The difference in price between name-brand and store-brand formulas probably has more to do with marketing costs than with any acutal real difference in the product.
As for your coworker, she sounds like an uneducated busy body who should just mind her own business! Tell her that if she wants your baby fed name brand formula then she can buy it for you.
Good luck!

If you look really closely at the packaging, you'll find that most store brands are made in the same locations as the name brands. Don't feel bad--my daughter did just fine on the store brand formula.
