I just found out today that a certain family member of mine has been throwing out my mail intentionally for a year. It is my Victoria's Secret Catalogs that I was supposed to be getting for a long time but never got them even though I ordered them twice. Yes, I am a straight female so its not like I was using them for anything other than shopping. I am not a minor, and I do pay rent.

I found my catalog with my name ripped off of it (It is definitely mine) by the front door so I assume this family member was going to throw it out as they left the house. I confronted this person about it and they admitted angrily that this was indeed what they planned on doing. This person is fanatically religious, so anything "intimate" such as a lace bra or the word "sex" is a sin.

Is this a felony? My family isn't a good one.. we're constantly at each other's throats. I do not need any input on my family/living situation. I just want to know how I can handle this legally. Thankyou

Well, why worry about filing charges on a family member, get a postbox and have mailed delivered there. If it is really bad I am wondering why you still stay?

Post office boxes can be rented very inexpensively to alleviate this issue.

Mail theft is a federal offense but I'm not sure if it applies in your case.

Why don't you find yourself another residence? I suppose you could charge that person with stealing your mail.
